If you have a chance to read this article, please be informed that you are going to read something about Thailand, especially about living in Bangkok. I made a promise to myself and my friend, Helena (thanks for inspiring me to do such an incredible thing!!!) that
I will write something in English once a week, but I must confess that English is one of my weaknesses, besides Geography and History. :P
In case you are one of the Thai readers finding this blog accidentally, you will see that most of the articles (all, actually) are written about the movies I’ve seen. Some are criticized by my own attitude plus feelings at that moment without any supporting facts. No matter what, this blog should not be used as a reference (I’m warning you!!!)
The first article of

living is about living in Bangkok happily. Before you come to Bangkok, you should study a bit about our country first. Thailand (and Metropolitan Bangkok) is located along the Equator, which means that our climate is totally hot (like hell, maybe… I’ve never been there, but this is my guess!!) and extremely humid. I once read a magazine article interviewing people from many countries and there are a large number of people in the world that do not know where Thailand is! Oh God!! (Don’t they know about Siamese Cats, Siamese twins, Tom yum Kung?!?!)
The sunlight is very, very strong and if you want to have a tan, you’ve come to the right place. In Bangkok, we are all more scared of direct sunlight than ghosts! Really, more than anything! Not because we are afraid of skin cancer, but because we don’t want to be darker!!! That’s why the skin whitening market is so successful in terms of sales volume here!!!

You can find tons of sun block in most supermarkets and convenient stores like, 7-11 or Family Mart. If you want to buy it cheaper, the super stores like Tesco-Lotus and Big-C is better. You will get the same product, but cheaper price and sometimes even a premium, depending on promotions, which usually promoted throughout the year anyway!!! The higher UV number, the better the protection from the sun’s harmful ultra violet rays; I’d recommend at least 50+ if you plan to visit the Royal Palace or any of the temples in Bangkok. I guarantee you hardly will find shelters to protect yourself from the harsh sunbeam that will burn your beautiful skin in a second. By the way, don’t forget to choose the water resistant formula as

the high humidity of the climate will cause you to sweat all the time. If you think that’s not enough, you might want to use a hat, but to be frank, hats are not commonly used in Bangkok - we don’t wear hats. So in case you have your own, take it along with you. If you don’t, as a Bangkokian, I’m really not sure where to buy one, maybe either JJ Market or the Patphong night bazaar.
Unforgettable!! The sunglasses!!! I’d suggest you to take your own. If you see something nice and cheap in the market or Bae-ka-din ‘(stalls” in Thai) and you think it is worth your money, then buy it. But please understand that there is no good and cheap thing in this world, which means it might look nice, but trust me, it cannot screen any sunlight. Even worse, it may affect your retinas since it will keep your iris opened, allowing the sunrays to destroy your retinas directly. Many prefer to spend a little money on quality sunglasses with true UV protection rather than being blind. ;)
